getting through the work week

Is a blog that will hopefully challenge the status quo in the workplace.  It is a reflection of my professional experiences, good and bad as well as the experiences of those who read, follow and contribute.  I will look for resources designed to make our working lives better.   The content will be meant for both employees and employers.  My hope is to provide a commentary meant to document the weaknesses at work that hold good employees back from greatness.

My first job was in high school at a fast food restaurant 22 years ago.  I was the type of employee who worked really hard so I had no problem with challenging managers with how things could be handled better.  My focus was on efficiency, I wanted to work smarter.  The other thing I noticed as I progressed in roles and responsibilities and meandered through different companies was the dynamic between managers and employees.  With a few exceptions, there seemed to be this unspoken disconnect.  I felt as though the company could be so much better if it would spend more time and energy improving the relationships between its employees and employers.

I have a passion for business and leadership.  Blogging will hopefully enable me to bring more attention to the legions of unhappy employees in the workplace.  As someone who has held far too many “jobs” I’ve figured out some things that could be of benefit to others.  Plus, I’d like to explore my strange sense of humor, my quirks, my antics, my work obsessions and my soapbox.

Ultimately, I’d just like to take the dread out of going to work.
